What?

Hillsborough County Elementary Mathematics Council will honor the fourth Rita Dugan Memorial Award recipient.

We would like your school to consider any
first year teachers you may have at your school.

The nominees must have no prior teaching experience and exhibit the following characteristics:

• Initiative … the nominee has an outstanding plan for teaching his/her mathematics program.
• Motivation … the nominee has shown incentive and been a driving force in the area of mathematics.
• Dedication … the nominee shows commitment and enthusiasm in the area of mathematics.
• Support … the nominee has supported school, district, and/or community activities related to mathematics.

How to Nominate a Teacher:

Individuals who nominate a beginning teacher will be required to write a brief summary describing why they feel the nominee should receive the Rita Dugan Memorial Award. The response should be based on the award criteria (above).

Dates:

• Nominatation form due date: February 25, 2008.
• Nominees and finalists will be notified during the week of March 26, 2008.
• The winner will be announced at the last HCEMC dinner meeting (date to be announced) and receive a $100 cash award.
